One Great George Street: A Perfect London Wedding Venue

Michaela and Jamie’s wedding was a masterclass in elegance — a 200-guest, black-tie affair in the heart of Westminster at the stunning One Great George Street.

Just a stone’s throw from Big Ben, Buckingham Palace and The Houses of Parliament, the location couldn’t have possibly felt more ‘London’.

A grand Grade II listed building on the edge of St James’ Park, this iconic London wedding venue has hosted many significant historical events and weddings and has been a popular film location for movies and TV features such as ‘The Crown’ and ‘Eyes Wide Shut’.

This day, however, was all about Jamie and Michaela. The magnificent baroque architecture, the French marble floors and painted, domed ceilings provided an incredible setting for their emotional Jewish ceremony and high-energy wedding reception.

A Traditional Jewish Wedding with a Modern Vibe.

The day began with Jamie's tisch, surrounded by his male friends and family and the Rabbi — a tradition with a mix of moments of quiet reflection, boisterous singing and storytelling. You could hear the raucous laughter down the hall. While they celebrated in the Smeaton room, Michaela sipped champagne, laughed and danced upstairs in the beautiful Library with her bridesmaids, Mother and Mother-in-law-to-be, before slipping into her gorgeous Stella York, lace wedding gown and dramatic veil.

As the ceremony approached, anticipation built in the Grand Hall, where Michaela, holding her Father’s hand, walked down the aisle, under a twinkling chandelier to meet Jamie under the chuppah. It was an emotional moment, especially seeing Maichaela’s Father with tears in his eyes.

Their ceremony honoured tradition in the most heartfelt way and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

Confetti from the Balcony – A One Great George Street Highlight

After the ceremony, The newleyweds held a cocktail hour in the central lobby next to the grand staircase with signature cocktails. A perfect location for group portraits and mingling with their guests.

The team at One Great George Street surprised them with a flurry of confetti from the venue’s internal balcony — one of the venue’s most visually striking and unique features.

As the confetti floated down and landed in their hair and their margaritas, it was a magical moment that they shared with their wedding guests and a defining memory of Jamie and Michaela’s day.

Wedding Portraits with Big Ben.

While the guests sipped on champagne and continued cocktail hour, Jamie and Michaela slipped outside for a short portrait session against the backdrop of London’s most famous landmark, Big Ben. Westminster’s historic charm gave us the dreamiest cityscape images - a little London magic. This also gave the newlyweds a quiet few minutes to themselves, away from their guests. I always encourage every couple to do this. Take a few moments together away from the crowd to reconnect and let the fact that you have just got married sink in.

A Wander Through One Great George Street

The wonderful thing about One Great George Street is that it’s not weather-dependent. Its incredible light-filled interiors are stunning, come rain or shine, which means it’s a perfect location for every season. We took photos on the famous Juliette balcony, the grand staircase and the mezzanine. With high open ceilings and marble from floor to ceiling. Each floor is a photographer’s dream. We were spoiled for choice of locations.

A High-Energy Reception with The Function Band

As the evening began, guests gathered for the wedding breakfast and dancing. The Function Band brought next-level energy, moving effortlessly between Jewish dancing (the hora was wild!) and floor-filling hits. Michaela and Jamie were lifted high into the air — surrounded by friends, music, and laughter.

What the Bride and Groom Said…

“ Jen, you are truly amazing. We loved having you there to capture everything, without getting in the way at all and having the biggest smile on your face while doing it.

You were a pleasure to work with, made us feel at ease from the moment we first spoke on the phone, and the sneak peak of the first pics the day after the wedding were AMAZING.

What followed was even better, a whole collection of stunning photos that captured the day, the love, the fun and the energy perfectly. I can't stop looking at them, and I will cherish them always!

Thank you again, I wish we could get married and have you photograph everything all over!! “
